21 OctI am planning to re-start the KAL today….

But, I was going to do somethings online first that are taking FOREVER due to the slow rate of my DSL. DH spent a few hours trying to untangle the mess of yarn the dog created when she destroyed the sweater a couple of weeks ago, but I think it’s just garbage.

I am also bummed because I waited too long to finish the scarves and now it’s too late to donate them to the Orphan project. What an idiot!

07 OctKAL is a BUST

The puppy did it again!!  ARGH!

Like an idiot I left my knitting bag on the floor and the dog got into it and DESTROYED my Kimono Cardigan as well as my Denise Knits knitting needle.  I am so upset, there are no words.  This is the second sweater she has destroyed.  I decided to take a break from it and finish up the orphan scarf # 1.

On the work front….as you may have noticed, I have not posted in a while.  That’s because I had a termination trial last week that I am happy to say went well for me.  Whew! Now that I have a break in trials, I hope to have more time to knit and post and not lawyer so much.

23 Sepmaking progress

I think most of the other cardigan KALers are just about done with their sweaters, but I am still just starting.  I did get the first 32 rows done this weekend, so I am well on my way though. :)  Other than that, I don’t have a lot of news.  I got my new phone on Friday which is too cool.  I am loving the Treo and wishing I had gotten one a lot sooner.  I have been a big fan of PDAs for many years and I’ve had a cell phone for even longer than that so having both things in one item is awesome!

I also got an arm band thing for the iPod so there are no more excuses for not going o the gym (I have been telling my self I needed it to go to the gym…)

The puppy chewed some more Mary Kay inventory today which really ticks me off.  I need to sell this stuff so I can buy the color suitcase deal.  That would be nice!  Anyone need some Mary Kay?  All products on hand are 50% off!!

[EDIT: this is strange…I had a rather lengthy post here and it disappeared? So, I have to start it over. Sorry.]

I have 23 rows done of the cardigan; however, I messed it up (I think). Being a rather new knitter (well, not really new but just now knitting beyond bags, scarves, hats, and 1 baby blanket), I read the pattern literally. This particular pattern is pretty advanced, for me at least, and is really 4 patterns in one as you have the actual sweater, and within the sweater, you have lace and two cables, a small cable and an alternating cable.

So I was cruising along, high-fiving myself because it was looking good and I hadn’t made (to my knowledge) any mistakes. I thought the alternating cable looked a little wrong, but not bad per se, and then, I got to row 22. I knew that the alternating cable was not going to look right if I did what the pattern said to do.

oops

You see, the pattern, after row 10, says to “continue in patts as established” so my mind says to keep knitting rows 1-10 over and over until you reach the proper length. Never mind that the lace has 3 additional rows and the alternating cable has 1 additional row….If you were supposed to knit those, it’d say so, right? I don’t think so.

09 Septhat time of year again

School started last Tuesday, but I didn’t get a chance to post about it, so here they are!

No. 1 starts driver’s ed this month (yikes).  We have been practicing all summer, and to be honest, I can’t wait until she can drive and run errands.  No. 2 is in his last year of middle school!

No 1 and No 2 were not that excited about the first day of school photo

Nos 3 and 5 were really excited (5 especially) but 3 had been telling 4 for a week that his teacher was mean so he was freaked. I tried to convince him that he needed to make his own opinions based on his experiences, but you know, he’s six.

Nos 3, 4, and 5 are ready to go!

And, as is tradition, I got my back to school purse. I didn’t realize how cute Fossil bags are! I own 6 or 7 Fossil watches, and now I think I am going to need a number of purses.

momma’s back to school bag

On the knitting front, I finished my cable testing, so I think I am ready to cast on for KAL.
