02 JanThe (potentially never-ending) Crate Project

Well, I am finished with the crate project for now (besides organizing and stablizing)! It turned out pretty great, I think. Sort of makes me want to buy a bunch of dead tree books and just keep going…

It started with 12 crates:

And some supplies:

I added six more, but it wasn’t quite right, so then I added 7 final crates:

And the final project is 25 crates, 5 up and 5 across….

These pictures make me want to get new flooring.

31 DecResolutions – 2015

All right, it’s that time of year again.

For the Mind

1) read 152 books (increased from goal of 102 from last year – read 67 in 2012, 98 in 2013, 140 in 2014)
2) of those books, finish the BBC top 200 (so close!)
3) use the Rosetta Stone Spanish program purchased in 2013 but never opened and learn Spanish
4) go to church more than once a month

For the Body

5) lose this last 12ish pounds and keep it off (make that 20 again – oops)
6) commit to 5 hours a week at the gym even if I can’t make it to a class and have to come up with a workout on my own – take Luke at least twice a week
7) get the “twin” tattoo
8) limit eating lunch out to once per week
9) maybe give running another chance

For Fun

10) go skydiving
11) go to Vegas
12) knit from stash
13) use the drop spindles and roving I’ve collected and actually learn to make some yarn
14) take ballet lessons
15) do a date & paint night
16) golf once a week during good weather

For the Home

17) use reusable grocery bags – at the very least at Red Apple
18) purchase and install and organize overhead garage storage
19) Home Routine app daily (FlyLady basically)
20) decorate living room with paint and art and maybe new furniture if possible
21) get curtains for basement
22) re-take and put into practice Financial Peace University
23) actually complete the crate project

31 DecResolutions – How Did I do?

It’s the end of the year and time to see how I did on my resolutions…

For the Mind

1) read 102 books (increased from goal of 52 for previous years – read 67 in 2012 and 98 in 2013) – Way surpassed this by reading 140 books! Woop.
2) of those books, finish the BBC top 200 – Not quite, but I am almost there!
3) use the Rosetta Stone Spanish program purchased in 2013 but never opened and learn Spanish – Yeah, still haven’t opened it….
4) go to church more than once every three months and not just because I am scheduled in the nursery – did much better, I have been going pretty much weekly since October with my Momma

For the Body

5) lose this last 20ish pounds – Uhm, no.
6) commit to 5 hours a week at the gym even if I can’t make it to a class and have to come up with a workout on my own – Again, no. (but I did go sometimes!)
7) get the “grae” tattoo and maybe even the “twin” tattoo – 1 out of two isn’t so bad?

For Fun

8) go skydiving – Didn’t happen, but I talked about it 🙂
9) take the kids camping using tents and everything – Not even close…
10) knit from stash – Did knit up quite a bit from stash!
11) take line dancing lessons – Nope.

For the Home

12) use reusable grocery bags – Ha ha
13) purchase and install and organize overhead garage storage – no….
14) FlyLady daily – I did download an app….
15) finish photo albums – I’m going to consider this complete enough to cross it off
16) decorate living room with paint and art and maybe new furniture if possible – nuh, uh
17) get curtains for basement – my mom said she’d make them for my birthday present so, kind of complete, but I won’t cross it off until it happens
18) re-take and put into practice Financial Peace University – Never even looked at it.
19) do filing on a weekly basis – Not really weekly, but everything is filed for the year

Because 24 Seems Like a Good Number

20) start hardwood floor fund – Nope
21) use the drop spindles and roving I’ve collected and actually learn to make some yarn – and Nope
22) golf once a week during good weather – I golfed quite a bit this year, so I’ll consider that a complete
23) quit smoking (again – for real) – Yeah, no.
24) limit eating lunch out to once per week – Really, who was I kidding?

23 NovThe Crate Project

I got 12 crates done. The whole thing is much smaller than I thought it would be…I think the Pinterest version I saw must have been in a tiny house?

Anyway, got maybe half of our books in there! (I guess I need more crates)

I finally finished the racing raindrops scarf from Churchmouse I got on the 2012 LYS!

Racing Raindrops

It’s amazing how many great things you can find in your very own stash.
